Over the summer of 2021, I worked as a fellow at the Democrat & Chronicle in Rochester, N.Y., focusing on the Revisiting the Rochester Narrative project. My partner, Caroline Johnson, and I researched and curated stories, videos, guest columns, editorials, as well as virtual and in-person discussions, that helped the D&C foster community conversation. This content helped build an understanding of how key decisions in years past have negatively affected Rochester’s Black community.
